Turn the World

Did you know?DID YOU KNOW?
Every year in the UK we use 12.5 million tonnes of paper and cardboard.   Recycling paper could easily reduce the amount of rubbish in your bin by a third!

paper

Newspapers, magazines and junk mail can be put in virtually all paper recycling containers. Other paper items in the following list may also be acceptable – check the instructions on the bank or contact your local council for details.

What can be recycled?
dot White and coloured office paper
dot Cereal boxes and shoeboxes
dot Computer printouts
dot Corrugated cardboard
dot Envelopes - even window envelopes - but not padded envelopes and Jiffy bags
dot Junk mail - what an excellent use for it!
dot Magazines
dot Newspapers are ideal candidates for recycling. The entire newspaper, including inserts, is acceptable, except for things like plastic, product samples and rubber bands.
dot Phone books.
dot Mail order catalogues.

What can't be recycled?
dot Carbon paper
dot Food contaminated paper
dot Oil-soaked paper
dot Plastic laminated paper such as fast food wrappers, juice boxes, and pet food bags.
dot Sanitary products or tissues
dot Stickers
dot Thermal fax paper
dot Waxed paper and waxed cardboard milk and juice containers
dot Padded envelopes

Other things you can do
dot Take unwanted books to your local charity shop so they can be re-used, or donate them to schools, care homes etc
dot Don't just throw away unwanted paper at work, use it as scrap paper for writing notes or use it for internal photocopying or faxing.
dot Photocopy on both sides of a piece of paper, it could cut paper consumption at work by half.
